In the framework of the LIFE+ project INDEMARES, coordinated by Fundación Biodiversidad, Alnitak develops the MITIGA Laboratory for adaptive ecosystem approach management.

This laboratory, based on the marine reserve of the Island of Alboran and the ALNITAK research ships Toftevaag and Sir Thomas Donagh, focuses on the development of technological measures for the mitigation of risks for cetacean, sea turtle and sea bird populations resulting from the use of the region by diverse socioeconomic sectors.
