Whale Trackers
This is a series of documentaries produced by earthOCEAN that journey across the world’s oceans to explore the lives of whales, dolphins and porpoises. earthOCEAN joins international scientists and conservationists on expedition to investigate the remarkable range of species and the diverse habitats they depend on. In includes the series Whales of the Mediterranean, five chapters that highlights the latest research into whales and dolphins as well as the heroic efforts to conserve them and their habitat in the Mediterranean.

   


Mediterranean - The Sea in the Middle of the Earth. In a region not often associated with wildlife, the Mediterranean Sea is a haven for a range of remarkable cetacean species. It shows the work of several researchers in the Mediterranean, including Alnitak.

 
   

Sperm Whales of Greece. earthOCEAN joins Dr. Alexandros Frantzis of the Pelagos Cetacean Research Institute, onboard the R/V Nereis on a journey into the deepest trenches of the Mediterranean.

 
   

Fishy Business. Despite a world-wide ban by the United Nations in 1992 and by the European Union in 2002, the driftnet fishery continues illegally throughout the Mediterranean Sea.

 
   

Disappearing dolphins. Common dolphins were once abundant throughout the Mediterranean Sea. Today they are declining rapidly, surviving only in portions of their former range.

 
   

Sanctuaries of the sea. What does it mean to save whales, dolphins and porpoises if their habitat is left unprotected? earthOCEAN interviews Erich Hoyt from WDCS and Ana Cañadas and Ricardo Sagarminaga from Alnitak.

 
 


 

Ins earch of Neptune, a 60 minutes chapter about the investigations of Alnitak in the Alboran Sea, within the framework of the documentary series “Keepers of the Planet” produced by Transglobe Films for National Geographic TV. National and International broadcast since 2001.


 

Blue Planet is a magnificent series of docuemntaries produced by BBC Wildvision that, from the coasts to the abysss, from pole to polo, reveals the life and extraordinary behaviours that had not been filmed before.

In the documentary “Open Ocean” the importance of the Alboran Sea for the pilot whale is highlighted.

In the documentary "Making waves” ("Making of") the investigations of Alnitak int he Alboran sea are described, including an interview to Ricardo Sagarminaga.
